SUSTAINABILITY & TRACABILITY

Fishing Sustainable means fishers are confident there will be fish for them to catch, and for us to eat, forever. We can choose to eat sustainable fish, and be confident that the ocean’s ecosystem is being protected from one of its major threats.

Hawaii’s pelagic fisheries are among the best managed in the world. You can enjoy our Hawaii seafood with confidence knowing that it is catch and process in a responsible fishery.

Hawaii’s model of fishery management system for sustainable pelagic fisheries is recognized worldwide. It set the benchmark for responsible fisheries and the sustainable seafood they produce.

All our Hawaii Pelagic fisheries products are hook and line-caught, directly traceable to US fishing vessels with limited access permits that operate under satellite vessel-tracking surveillance and with high levels of government observer coverage at sea. Hawaii’s open ocean logline fisheries for tuna, swordfish, and the other species are rigorously managed for sustainability by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) fisheries Services and the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council.
